"An MVP player in LA musical affairs seemingly no matter what the genre or mode…Certainly if Bebel Gilberto has turned your head, Hassett will continue to set you swiveling." –Midwest Record
A native of São Paulo Brazil and schooled in the recording studios of Chicago, Carla is often compared to Bebel Gilberto and Flora Purim in her prime. She has appeared on 7th Heaven, The Tonight Show, Grammy Awards and as the voice of Peggy Lee on Pee Wee’s Playhouse. As a backup singer, Carla has performed with the late soul legend Solmon Burke, recorded with Gino Vannelli, Mike Patton (Faith No More), Jon Anderson (Yes), Mimi Betinis (Pezband), Michael Bublé, and toured with Billy Idol, REO Speedwagon, Christopher Cross and actor/musician Gary Sinise.
She sang on the feature film “Ask The Dust,” on Disney’s “Kronk’s New Groove” and on the Fox feature “Rio” for composers John Powell and Sergio Mendes. Carla has sung and contracted for Disney in Portuguese, for numerous Brazilian music-themed commercials (as singer and composer), and live performances with Sergio Mendes, Flora Purim and Airto Moreira.
Currently, Carla is the vocal arranger on several CD projects, including Brazilian bassist Antônio de Santanna's CD (Tim Maia, Elba Ramalho) and 70’s pop icon Mimi Betinis' All That Glitters. She also fronts the Brazilian samba-funk band MUAMBA and will soon release her third CD of original music, which blends American soul with Brazilian samba.
Carla is available for remote sessions. Please email for details.
