Carla is one of the most innovative artists in the LA Brazilian music scene with her boldly conceptual blend of tropicalia, bossa nova, and soul. Music Connection called her sound "a sizzling contemporary style with traces of jazz, samba, soul and pop." Carla’s influences come from a collective unconscious of 70’s music ranging from Elis Regina to Bill Withers and the direct influence of artists she has recorded or toured with throughout her career, including Caetano Veloso, Sergio Mendes, and Mike Patton. As a vocal arranger and producer, she was at the helm for rising pop star Emii on her latin tracks and handled the vocal production for Charlie Sheen and Katherine Winneck singing on a Roman Coppola film. Carla is a long-time session singer with countless commercials as well as film and TV credits (click vocal reel). She is currently on faculty at Flea’s Silverlake Conservatory of Music, performs regularly throughout Los Angeles with her trio, and is in production on a new project exploring themes of “leaving Brazil.”

Carla at KPFK

Filmed some promo for Los Angeles radio station KPFK's Global Village Fridays with Sergio Mielniczenko. So much fun! I can't wait to see the results!
The hugely successful Kulak's Woodshed concert and live stream was a great way to kick off a new project exploring artists and themes of "leaving Brazil" from Caetano Veloso's exile during the Tropicalia movement to Carla's own original material. Click here for lots more videos!
